An Evening with Mr. Gale Lemerand

You are invited to join the Gator Club of Volusia County at their April OUTREACH event, featuring distinguished guest speaker Gale Lemerand. The OUTREACH    program provides an opportunity for the University of Florida to share the excitement and intellectual quality of its campus with alumni and friends everywhere. The goal of OUTREACH is to demonstrate that UF is indeed a statewide and nationwide resource. The April OUTREACH will provide local residents with a chance to talk with one of Florida's most renowned business leaders without leaving their hometown.

Mr. Lemerand is well known in the Daytona Beach area as chairman and co-founder of the Stonewood Restaurant Group.  Born and raised in Michigan, Lemerand relocated to Illinois at the age of 40. There he began an insulation subcontracting firm out of a barn in Itasca. In 1979, he moved to Daytona Beach, FL, building his company into a $400 million business before retiring. His entrepreneurial skills and business acumen were recognized when he was named Florida Entrepreneur of the Year in 1995.

Lemerand devotes a great deal of time to local events and charities, including the Boy Scouts of America, the Boys and Girls Club of America, and the March of Dimes. He was presented with the Humanitarian Award in 1996 by the Chi Chi Rodriguez Youth Foundation in recognition of his true willingness to serve others. In addition, Lemerand serves on numerous boards, and in 1999 he was honored as one of UF’s Honorary Alumnus. In 2003, UF awarded Lemerand an honorary degree. Perhaps his greatest achievement, though, comes at the home front.  Mr. Lemerand has been a supporter of the Gator Club of Volusia County’s Scholarship Golf Tournament, with donations of over $40,000.00 in the last 11 years. His donations to the Gator Club have been used to support local Volusia County High School students attending the University of Florida.  Lemerand is the proud father of three children -- Gary, Dawn, and Rhonda.

 The Outreach Event will be on Thursday, April 15, 2010 at Sunset Harbor Yacht Club,  861 Ballough Road, Daytona Beach, FL. 
Social hour begins at 5 pm (cash bar and hors d’oeuvres)
Mr. Lemerand to speak at 6pm.

Daytona Young Professionals (Daytona YPG) $3.00 per person (rsvp required)
All others $5.00 per person
