National Gator Day has gone global
International National Gator Day May 21, 2005 |
We have
adopted a section of the beach in the Daytona Beach
Shores area. We have Gator Club® volunteers work with us to help keep
our Volusia County beaches beautiful. The location of the beach area is
3333 South Atlantic Ave, in Daytona Beach Shores. Everyone should be there and
ready to work from 8 am till 10:00 am and with your help, our Beach will be spotless
when we are finished!
REMEMBER----MEET AT THE DUNLAWTON AVE
BEACH
APPROACH RAMP IN PORT ORANGE......
The Alumni
Association and the County will supply all the necessary items that
we will need to cleanup the
beach and a sign for us that says we are taking
care of
that section of the beach. We will be furnished gloves, bags, beach passes and Gatorade
to
get us thru the morning work out.
Thanks to all
the Gators that have joined us in the past in
helping to make our
Volusia County beaches the best around and
showing the rest
of the
community that we are more than just sports!!!!

The UF Alumni Association
celebrated its fifth annual National Gator Day event
on Saturday, May 17th. More than 40 Gator Clubs® worldwide
volunteered their
time in support of a community service project where they reside. Some
highlights
of the day consisted of the Japan Gator Club®
participating in two different projects.
One was at the Manazuru Peninsula for clean-up, and the other was at Shikoku
helping NPO dedicate to the artist Isamu Noguchi. This marked the first time
ever
for an international club participating (full
story). The Music City Gator Club® in
Nashville, TN went above and beyond and tackled three community service projects
to include Children's Book Donation, volunteering at Loaves and Fishes and at
the Family
Life Center. Another newcomer, the Association of Hispanic Alumni special
interest group
volunteered at the Camillus House, a sheltered women and children’s home in
Miami.
The UF Alumni Association
teamed up with Habitat for Humanity this year in celebration of
National Gator Day. More than thirteen staff members came out to build a home
for Sheila McCray
located at 105 SE 13th Lane in Gainesville. A wonderful time was had by all who
participated.
