Pat Dooley is a native of Gainesville and a University of Florida
graduate. He has been a sportswriter for 30 years and has covered a myriad
of events such as every major bowl game, five Super Bowls, the World
Series, the College World Series three times, the 1996 Summer Olympics and The
Masters nine  times. Dooley has done extensive work in radio and currently
appears Monday through Friday on The Star 99.5 in Gainesville. He has been at
The Gainesville Sun since 1987 and was named columnist in April of 1995.
Recently, he was named winner of the prestigious Shelby Strothers Award for
sports writing as well as the Div. II columnist of the year. Pat saw his
first Florida football game in 1962, was a frequent visitor of the old
Alligator Alley and has followed Gator sports since he was old enough to
pay attention.
